Love, Drive, and Desire

Untamed and Unafraid

This past week has been all kinds of disappointing and stressful. I have had some success; I am down 6 pounds and I have met my daily commitment 7 days out of 11, but I could feel myself slipping last week. Death of a family member on Thursday was the final straw to get me off track. In the past, the fear of publicly falling down would have been enough to sit me down or postpone the challenge. Instead, I spent this weekend thinking through my next moves, my strategy: how to get back on track. To get back on track, I might have to forget some manners, miss some potlucks, and prioritize my workouts over other obligations.

My Love For Myself Drives My Desire to Be Healthier.

In addition to reminding myself of my daily affirmation, I have been reviewing my why I decided to this in the first place. On April 16, I wrote the following words: “Each day we have to renew ourselves, our confidence, our strategy…trying to conquer all your issues at once can leave you depleted and make you feel like you are not accomplishing anything… I have decided to focus on one issue that I can control over the next 90 days – my health.”

Two weeks later, I am pulling from that same energy and drive to help me refocus. No matter how many things happen in my life, I CAN control my health. Our family has been plagued with untimely deaths and many preventable illnesses. I can either live ‘as is’ under a death sentence or choose life. I choose life and, although I have already started this health challenge, NOW is when my journey really begins.

The day I died was the day I started to live. In my old life, I longed for someone to see what was special in me. You did, and for that, you’ll always be in my heart. But what I really needed was for me to see it. And now I do… You see, sometimes I’m good. Oh, I’m very good. But sometimes I’m bad. But only as bad as I wanna be. Freedom is power. To live a life untamed and unafraid is the gift that I’ve been given, and so my journey begins. ~ Catwoman
